Roger Clarke passed away in July 2021 after a long battle with brain cancer. He was a member of The Bush Club and the Upper Blue Mountains Bushwalking Club, (UBMBC) where he was a walk leader, Secretary and Treasurer, and served a 16 year term as President. He was awarded Life Membership of UBMBC in 2018 for his outstanding contribution to the club.
Roger was known not only for his organisational and navigational skills , but also for his modesty, kindness, generosity, and willingness to share his knowledge.
Clarkes Lookout on the Kings Tableland cliff line, between Double Hill and Lions Head, is named after him.
